Many people are wondering what exactly wood-look composite stone flooring is and how it is better or different from general vinyl flooring. Today, BS FLOOR will introduce you to the different types of vinyl flooring.
The first type is Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT Flooring), which is an upgraded version of traditional loose-lay vinyl flooring. This type of flooring is thin, highly flexible, and primarily made of vinyl. However, LVT is improved by adding stabilizing agents (plasticizers), making it more stable and durable. It is also 100% waterproof.
Currently, there are two types of LVT flooring:
- Dry Back LVT: Resembling tiles, this type is installed using glue.
- Click-Lock LVT: This version uses a click-lock system for installation and is typically laid over white foam underlayment for added comfort and soundproofing.
The price of this type of vinyl flooring varies depending on its type, thickness, vinyl quality, and the film used. Total installation costs generally range between 400-600 THB per square meter.

The second type is wood-look composite stone flooring, also known as SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) flooring, which is essentially a vinyl flooring product developed from LVT flooring. Instead of using stabilizing agents, SPC mixes limestone powder as part of its composition. This makes SPC flooring retain the flexibility of vinyl while being stronger, more durable, and less prone to expansion and contraction compared to LVT, especially in hot climates.
The seams between SPC planks are tight, preventing small amounts of water from seeping underneath. Additionally, SPC flooring provides a low noise level when walked on. This type of flooring is only available in a click-lock system but comes with two options:
- With foam backing underneath the planks
- Without foam backing
The price varies accordingly. Installed prices for this type of vinyl flooring range between 550-800 THB per square meter, depending on the quality of vinyl, plank thickness, and the presence of foam.
The last type is Wood Plastic Composite (WPC) flooring, which is developed from LVT flooring with an additional layer of composite wood added to the structure. This increases the core density, giving the flooring a more authentic wooden feel while walking. However, WPC flooring is less popular due to its higher price compared to the other two types while maintaining features similar to SPC flooring.
